MAKUP delivers the best and most professional hair and makeup training for film, TV and theatre in the UK. After a mere 16 weeks, students are fully trained in contemporary hair and makeup, facial hair and knotting, period makeup and wigs, SFX and prosthetics, and haircutting and men’s barbering.
Crucially, they have also been taught set etiquette and portfolio building, and are therefore prepared to start work immediately on-set. Furthermore, Veronica’s role doesn’t stop there. She engages with makeup designers and crowd supervisors who are seeking students for practical work experience and paid jobs.
Just this year, all graduates have begun to work in their dream profession. For example:
- Veronica and graduates worked on “inserts” for a family favourite film to be released next year.
- Graduate, Megan, worked as Wigs Mistress on a run of ‘Home, I’m Darling’ at Theatr Clwyd in July.
- Another student, Abby, has worked on a Disney film called ‘Artemis Fowl’, on a BBC TV series and on a photoshoot for Millennial Magazine.
- Recent graduate Georgia, worked on a period drama TV production which will be show on the Drama Channel.
- Successful student, Aimee, assisted Veronica and BAFTA winning Hair and Makeup Designer Paul Gooch at the BBC Young Musician 2018 awards.

Just thought I’d drop you a line to say how delighted Pip and I were with Jessica during BFilm Micro’s Proof of Concept teaser shoot for Augmental.
Not only did she create some excellent and highly believable effects including bruises, cuts and a bullet entry wound, Jessica was also a model professional on set. Calm, assured, always engaged and with an engaging personality, we would definitely use Jessica in the future.
